In celebration of World Diabetes Day 2024, JPMC College of Health Sciences (JCHS) hosted an inspiring and educational talk titled, “Nurses at the Heart of Diabetes Care.” Held on 15th November 2024, the event brought together healthcare professionals, students, and faculty to highlight the essential role nurses play in diabetes care and management.
The keynote speaker, Hajah Rugayah Binti Arun, Deputy Divisional Nursing Head from the Specialist Outpatient Clinic (Medical), delivered an engaging and insightful address. Drawing from her extensive experience, she shed light on the critical contributions of nurses to diabetes prevention, patient education, and ongoing care. She also introduced innovative strategies to empower patients to effectively manage their conditions and enhance their quality of life.
Nursing students from Politeknik Brunei were also in attendance, adding their unique perspectives and enthusiasm to the discussions. The session became even more dynamic with an interactive quiz led by the speaker, offering prizes to the winners. This was followed by a lively Q&A session where students asked questions and shared personal experiences related to diabetes, further enriching the dialogue.
The event concluded with the presentation of a token of appreciation to Hajah Rugayah Binti Arun, followed by a group photo to commemorate the occasion.
